Scholarships and Financial Aid

Below are the scholarships offered by the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics. 

Additionally, Florida State University utilizes a centralized scholarship management system. The system, called FS4U, offers many useful online features and benefits for students as well as faculty and staff who are involved in awarding scholarships. Winthrop-King Undergraduate Funding for Study Abroad

FSU's Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics offers a wide range of scholarships and other awards to support students in modern languages and linguistics. Many of these are supported by the Ada Belle Winthrop-King fund

Winthrop-King Undergraduate Summer Semester Scholarships are offered in a variety of languages to provide opportunities for undergraduate students at Florida State University to live and study abroad in order to increase their knowledge of the host country’s language and society.


Maura Binkley Study-Abroad Scholarship

The Maura Binkley Study-Abroad Scholarship awards current FSU students who share Maura’s ambition, critical inquiry, resourcefulness, cultural openness and cosmopolitan spirit. The scholarship enables recipients to spend the FSU spring and summer semesters (March-July) on the Bergische Universität Wuppertal – FSU Exchange immersing themselves in the German language and culture.


Tim Logan Family Scholarship for German

The scholarship is for students who pursue a German-focused degree in the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics. The winner must commit to returning to study with FSU's German Program in the academic year following the scholarship.


Timothy Logan Family Scholarship for Slavic Studies

The scholarship annually awards $1000 to a student pursuing a degree in Russian or Slavic in the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics. The awardee will be distinguished by their commitment to studying Russian and/or Ukrainian language and culture, intellectual and cultural leadership, and service to the university or wider community.
